CHANGES TO OUR COURSE THIS SEASON

Dear Member
Please be advised there have been some minor changes to the MTC course this season for both Juniors and Seniors due to Maitland City Council requirements. Please refer to the updated race course maps for details.
Points to note
You will not be allowed to enter the pool area via the back gate. All competitors and spectators must enter via the turn-styles at the pool entry. If you are a member, (including family member / guardian etc), MTC will cover your costs. Once you exit the pool you will not be allowed to re-enter to swim. Competitors will however be allowed to re-enter to shower only.
The MTC committee do now foresee any issues with the agreed arrangements, and are confident we can still provide a friendly, fun and safe race for all to enjoy.
If you have any questions regarding the changes please call Ja Davis (President) on 0419 277860.
Thanks

2010-11 WITH A NEW COMMITTEE

21/7/10 - Our new season is about to get underway in just a matter of weeks. This week saw the gathering at the East Maitland Bowling Club for our Annual General Meeting. Members of the committee for this season include many of the old faces, but there is also a number of new members filling key roles. Some of the notable names in this year’s committee are Ja Davis taking up the job of President for another year. Many of the other positions are filled with similar people from last season. New faces for this year are Belinda Edstein and Tim Stevens. Belinda is taking on the job of Registrar and Tim will be organising our Marshals under the title of Chief Marshal. A warm welcome to all of those who took on office positions for this year.
For those other members who think they would like to help in some small way, you are always welcome to assist in any small way you can. Just ask one of the Committee Members how you can be of service.
To familiarise yourself with those on your new committee visit the Contacts page.
See you at the first race in a few weeks time.

RUNNER GRATITUDE - COMPRESSION TIGHTS

By Dr. Kirk Mahoney

An attitude of gratitude can make all the difference in what you attract into your life as a runner. The Law of Attraction says that we tend to get more of that for which we regularly have thoughts and feelings of gratitude.
You can apply the Law of Attraction to your running life by often considering every single person, place, thing, and experience for which you are in any way grateful.
Even better: These thoughts and feelings of gratitude will tend to give you the habit of an attitude of gratitude in other areas of your life, and this habit will make other parts of your life more enjoyable and rewarding, too. As many wise people like to say, true wealth means fully appreciating everything that one has in one's life.
So, if you wear compression tights during any or all of your runs, then consider these thoughts of gratitude related to them:
-I am truly grateful that I could afford my compression tights.
-I love the way that my tights hug my legs and make me feel more confident in my running.
-I am thankful that athletes, biomechanics, kinesiologists, and fabric scientists collaborated to research and develop the compression tights that I now wear during my runs.
-I am amazed at and grateful for the way that my tights are constructed such that there are panels that compress in all the right places and at all the right intensities.
-I am thankful for the people and machines who sewed my compression tights so that they stay together and last for run after run.
-I love the way that I can cold-water wash my tights -- and save money by not using hot water.
-I am thankful for the way that my tights will air-dry in an hour or two.
-I am truly grateful for the way that my tights wick perspiration away from my skin all over my hips and legs.
-A feeling of gratitude comes over me when I take time to appreciate how my compression tights keep my legs warm on cold-morning runs.
-I am grateful that I can keep my hip and leg muscles warm -- but not too warm! -- by wearing my tights on hot days.
-I look forward to taking the time to carefully put on my compression tights before a long run.
-I feel grateful after a long run when I peel off my tights and notice that my leg muscles are not sore.

The most powerful thoughts of gratitude are the most personal. Take this list as a starting point, and personalize it to your thoughts and feelings about your tights.
